Our Dear Partners-in-Ministry,
Warmest greetings to you all, in our Saviour’s name!
The following is a very sobering verse:
“… He knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust” (Psalm 103, v14).
The human body is “Fearfully and wonderfully made”, and yet – when all said and done – we are dust!
Some of you will remember our good friend, Mr. Eric Clarke from Northern Ireland.
I was his accompanist when we were working with the “Movement for world evangelism” in Filey days.
We were having breakfast in the home of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Godden, where we were staying. We were involved in a Mission in the Milmead Centre, Guildford: and there were a great many opportunities in the gospel. Mr. Godden said to us: “What activities have you today?” We listed a coffee morning, a lunch-time meeting, a women’s meeting, and the evening meeting. Charles Godden, who was number two in Inland Revenue said: “’He knows how we are formed; he remembers that we are dust’ – it’s we who forget!”
Since our last letter to you, we’ve had reminders of that fact. For a month, included Christmas, both Margaret and her mum had a viral attack. Symptoms included an exhausting and persistent cough; heavy cold, and a feeling of lethargy. And I found in my early New Year travels that our family was not alone.
Maybe some of you suffered likewise. We seem to hear of things now that we never heard of those years ago.
Most regrettably, I had to cancel a weekend in Edinburgh because of an ear infection which was painful, and which restricted my hearing. However, all that’s over now, and we are our normal, healthy selves!
So for those of you who pray for our health, your prayers have been answered positively: And we’re continuing to know God’s blessing on all the opportunities that are given to us.
Margaret and I had a particularly refreshing time in Llandudno in November with Dave Pope and Saltmine. It was so good to team up with Dave after many years of each pursuing the ministries that God had led us into. (Dave and ourselves served with the Movement for world evangelism in the early 1970’s.) “Time out” is an annual get-together of friends for Bible ministry and fellowship.
God willing, we are hoping to be at the 2005 event.
Since our last letter to you, travels have included Scotland, Northern Ireland, Lancashire, Shropshire, Dorset, Sunbury-on-Thames, Hurstpierpoint, and Liverpool. Liverpool also featured in the Torch National Thanksgiving Day last October, where we had a God-glorifying time at Bridge Chapel, Garston.
Our involvement with Torch is increasing with more and more visits to existing fellowship groups, and to places for potential groups in Northern Ireland, Worcester, and the Isle of Man.
We know that many of you keep our diary and pray for us where we are.
We’re so very grateful for that, as we are for all the support you’re giving us.
For those who have access to the Worldwide Web, you can find a monthly report of our doings, together with photos in the graphics section.
Do put us in your “Favourites” menu!
Do continue to pray that we might be given the right opportunities to serve.
After an evening of playing and speaking, I often get before the Lord in the quiet of a bedroom and ask:
“Dear Lord, was that gold, silver, costly stones? Or was it merely wood, hay orstraw? (1 cor. 3 v12) We don’t count the years; we seek to make the years count, and your prayers help that to happen.
May God richly bless and encourage you in your praying, as you bless, encourage and enable us in our ministry.
We send this letter out to you all with our love.
Yours “In Christ alone”,
MARGARET & PETER.
